BREAKING: In a thrilling turn of events, Black Phone 2 has officially claimed the top spot at the box office, raking in a remarkable $42 million worldwide during its opening weekend. This highly anticipated sequel from Blumhouse has exceeded expectations, drawing $26.5 million from North America alone.

This strong debut outperforms the initial figures of its predecessor, which opened with $23.3 million domestically and $35.8 million globally in 2022. After a lackluster showing from earlier 2025 horror releases like M3GAN 2.0 and Wolf Man, this victory comes as a much-needed boost for Blumhouse.

Directed by Scott Derrickson and featuring returning stars Ethan Hawke, Mason Thames, Madeleine McGraw, and Miguel Cazarez Mora, Black Phone 2 continues the chilling saga of the Grabber, who, despite being defeated, haunts the children who overcame him through a sinister black phone at a summer camp.

The sequel has garnered generally positive reviews, indicating strong viewer interest. The original film was based on a short story by Joe Hill, while this installment features a completely original storyline.

Meanwhile, the performance of Tron: Ares has taken a significant hit, plummeting by 65% in North America and adding only $11.1 million to its domestic total, which now stands at $54.6 million. Internationally, the Disney sequel managed to earn an additional $14.1 million, but it’s clear that the film did not resonate with Chinese audiences during its debut weekend. With a new global total of $103 million, the future of the franchise appears uncertain.

As for Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein, Netflix has yet to reveal box office numbers, but anticipation grows as its limited release expands to more theaters next weekend.

Looking ahead, moviegoers can expect a diverse lineup on October 24, featuring Yorgos Lanthimos’ comedy Bugonia, Tina Romero’s Queens of the Dead, and Chris Stuckmann’s horror debut Shelby Oaks. While Halloween weekend remains devoid of genre films, fans can mark their calendars for November 7 when Predator: Badlands hits theaters.

This weekend’s box office results highlight a shifting landscape in horror cinema, making it clear that audiences are eager for fresh, compelling stories. Share this news and stay tuned for more updates as the box office battle continues!
