DoorDash Waives Fees for SNAP Recipients Amid Food Crisis

URGENT UPDATE: DoorDash has just announced a significant initiative to support SNAP recipients as the federal government shutdown threatens food aid for millions. The company plans to deliver the equivalent of 1 million free meals through food banks nationwide starting in November 2025.

As the shutdown is expected to impact SNAP benefits for more than 40 million Americans, DoorDash is stepping in to help alleviate the crisis. The company will waive delivery and service fees for grocery orders from participating partners for customers who have linked their SNAP/EBT cards to their DoorDash profiles.

DoorDash’s initiative, part of its Project DASH, will partner with over 300 food banks, pantries, and charity organizations to ensure that food donations reach those in need. However, individuals cannot place orders directly through the app; food bank partners will coordinate all deliveries with DoorDash drivers, maintaining the logistics established prior to the shutdown.

From November 1 to November 30, 2025, SNAP recipients can shop at various grocery partners including Sprouts, Dollar General, Schnucks, Ahold Delhaize brands, Hy-Vee, Giant Eagle, and Wegmans. Customers can enjoy waived delivery and service fees on one order, provided their EBT card is linked. If the EBT balance is drained, any payment method can still be used for grocery purchases.

This initiative comes as food banks brace for overwhelming demand. With SNAP benefits dwindling, families across the nation are increasingly reliant on food assistance. DoorDash’s commitment to waive fees is a critical step in providing much-needed support to vulnerable communities during this challenging time.

Stay tuned for further updates on this urgent matter as both DoorDash and food banks ramp up their collaborative efforts to deliver essential resources to those in need.
