UPDATE: A major egg recall has expanded, affecting two brands linked to potential salmonella contamination. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has identified Kenz Henz and Black Sheep Company as the brands involved, originating from a facility in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas.

Inspection results have revealed 40 positive samples for seven different strains of salmonella at the Black Sheep Egg Company. Consumers should be aware that consuming contaminated eggs can lead to serious gastrointestinal issues, including diarrhea, stomach cramps, and fever—particularly dangerous for young children, the elderly, and individuals with weakened immune systems.

The recall is urgent as affected eggs may still be present in homes. The FDA is advising all consumers to check their fridges immediately. If you possess any of the recalled products, either dispose of them or return them to the store for a full refund. No illnesses have been reported so far, but vigilance is crucial.

The specific products under recall include:
Kenz Henz 12-count packages of “Grade AA Large Pasture Raised” eggs.
– UPC code: 86949400030
– Julian dates: 241 (Aug 30) to 244 (Sep 2) and 246 (Sep 4) to 247 (Sep 5)
– Best by dates: 10/11/2023 to 10/14/2023 and 10/16/2023 to 10/17/2023
Black Sheep Company’s 12- and 18-count cartons of “Free Range Large Grade A Brown Eggs”
– Best by dates: 08/22/2025 through 10/31/2025
– UPC codes: 860010568507 and 860010568538

Authorities report that the Black Sheep Company may have distributed these contaminated eggs to other companies in Arkansas and Missouri, where they may have been repackaged under different brand names.

The FDA has committed to providing updates as more brands could be added to this urgent recall. Consumers are urged to stay informed and take immediate action regarding their egg purchases.

This situation highlights the ongoing need for food safety vigilance and public health awareness. Stay tuned for further announcements as this developing story unfolds.
