A stolen vehicle chase that began in Pennsylvania culminated in a dramatic arrest in Delaware on the afternoon of December 30, 2025. Lower Chichester Township police tracked the vehicle, a white Mercedes-Benz work van, after it was reported stolen earlier that day in the City of Chester.

At approximately 16:23, the police received an alert from their license plate reader system indicating that the stolen van was traveling westbound on Ridge Road near Market Street. Officers quickly mobilized to intercept the vehicle while navigating heavy traffic.

After several minutes, an officer visually identified the van as it passed Blueball Avenue, continuing its route toward the Delaware state line. With emergency lights activated, the officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop when traffic conditions allowed. Police reported that the driver did not comply and crossed into Delaware.

Shortly after entering the state, the van came to a stop at the intersection of Route 92 and turned into the parking lot of a Wawa convenience store. As the situation unfolded, a secondary officer arrived, and a felony traffic stop was conducted. The driver, identified as Riyad H. Hussein, and a passenger were removed from the vehicle without incident.

Due to jurisdictional protocols, the Delaware State Police responded to the scene and took Hussein into custody. He faced charges in Delaware that facilitated his extradition back to Pennsylvania. Following his arrest, Hussein posted bail related to the Delaware charge and is currently awaiting a hearing for a charge of receiving stolen property in Pennsylvania.

The passenger was evaluated by police and released at the scene. The initial incident began in the 1000 block of West Ridge Road in Linwood, Pennsylvania. All charges referenced are allegations, and any suspect, arrestee, or defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
