Castle Noel Unveils Starlight Room Restaurant with Dazzling Light Show

Castle Noel, the celebrated Christmas museum in Medina, Ohio, has expanded its offerings with the official opening of the Starlight Room restaurant on March 15, 2024. The new eatery features an impressive ceiling display of 10,000 lights that synchronize with music, promising guests an enchanting dining experience.

Owner Mark Claus, whose appearance mirrors a vintage Santa, welcomed dignitaries including Medina Mayor Dennis Hanwell and local council members at the ribbon-cutting ceremony. Claus and his wife, Dana Claus, expressed their excitement about this latest addition to the museum, which they opened in 2013 in a former Methodist church.

“This is a family project that grows every year,” Claus stated. “The whole restaurant idea has been in my head for a long time. Every year after Christmas, I buy equipment to enhance the experience, aiming to provide a complete journey where visitors can enjoy a great meal alongside the magic of Castle Noel.”

The Starlight Room offers a diverse menu that includes burgers, paninis, salads, and a special menu for children dubbed “elves in training.” Dishes are creatively themed around Christmas characters, such as the Cindy Lou Who Caprese inspired by Dr. Seuss’s classic tale, “How The Grinch Stole Christmas.”

Creating a Magical Atmosphere

The restaurant’s interior is designed to be cozy and inviting, featuring tasteful holiday decorations and carefully framed vintage magazine advertisements. Claus emphasized the importance of maintaining a festive ambiance, with a soft instrumental version of “Silent Night” playing overhead and blue and white lights creating a serene atmosphere.

“Every detail is meant to add to the magic of the whole experience,” Claus added. He is committed to continually improving the attraction, ensuring that visitors can enjoy both the museum and the new dining experience.

In addition to the indoor restaurant, Claus has renovated the outdoor space, incorporating heated concrete and an outdoor stage. This area features Cousin Eddie’s motor home from the beloved 1989 film, “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation,” further enhancing the festive environment.

Since its inception, Castle Noel has become a staple of the Medina community, with Claus consistently investing in the property to enhance its appeal. Economic Development Director Kimberly Marshall noted that Claus has played a significant role in revitalizing the area, making it a destination for both locals and tourists.

Reflecting on his journey, Claus recalled the day he purchased the property, expressing his emotional connection to it. “I told my wife, ‘This is the perfect place for Castle Noel,’” he shared. “It’s all about the memories we create here.”
