Auburn University linebacker Xavier Atkins has been recognized with three notable postseason honors, further solidifying his status as one of college football’s rising stars. The accolades include selections to the Football Writers Association of America All-America Team, the AFCA Coaches All-American team, and the Walter Camp All-American team. This achievement marks a significant moment for Auburn, as Atkins becomes the first All-American linebacker since Karlos Dansby in 2003 and the first overall since Roger McCreary in 2021.

Atkins, a sophomore, enjoyed a standout season after transferring from Louisiana State University (LSU). He led the Tigers with a total of 84 tackles, which included the Southeastern Conference (SEC) best of 17 tackles for loss and nine sacks. His performance earned him the highest grading among linebackers in the nation from Pro Football Focus, where he achieved an impressive score of 91.7. Within the SEC, his tackles and sack totals ranked third overall, and notably, thirteen of his tackles for loss occurred during SEC play, establishing him as a league leader.

Having made history, Atkins is also recognized as the first true linebacker from Auburn to earn First Team All-SEC honors since Deshaun Davis in 2018. His achievements not only highlight his individual talent but also contribute to Auburn’s football legacy, enhancing the program’s competitive reputation.

With these accolades, Atkins is poised for a bright future in college football, and his accomplishments this season serve as a testament to his dedication and skill on the field. As Auburn prepares for the upcoming season, fans and analysts alike will be watching to see how this talented linebacker builds on his impressive offseason and continues to impact the game.
