The Alabama Sports Writers Association (ASWA) has recognized Mark Hastings as the Class 1A Coach of the Year following an impressive inaugural season with the Addison Bulldogs. Under Hastings’ leadership, the team achieved a remarkable 12 wins, the highest total since 2016, and clinched their first region title since 2018.

In addition to these significant milestones, the Bulldogs set a new school record by scoring a total of 591 points throughout the season. This offensive prowess propelled the team to the Class 1A semifinals for the first time in nine years, although they were ultimately defeated by the top-ranked Wadley.

Hastings’ successful beginning as head coach has not gone unnoticed, as the ASWA announced his accolade on December 20, 2025, coinciding with the release of this year’s All-State football team. His achievement highlights both his coaching skills and the potential for continued success at Addison.

In addition to Hastings, other coaches were also honored in various classifications. The full list of Coach of the Year selections includes:

– Class 7A: Bryan Moore, Opelika
– Class 6A: Scott Basden, Muscle Shoals
– Class 5A: Seth Parker, Priceville
– Class 4A: Jeremy Vines, Bullock County
– Class 3A: Barrett Trotter, Bayside Academy
– Class 2A: RJ McDonald, Lanett

Hastings’ contributions to the team reflect a revitalization of the Addison football program, and the community’s enthusiasm is palpable as they look forward to future seasons. The recognition serves as a testament to the hard work and dedication exhibited by both the coaching staff and the players throughout the year.
