James Harden Jokes About Age as Clippers Find Winning Streak
The Los Angeles Clippers have secured a much-needed victory streak, winning three consecutive games following a rocky start to the 2025-2026 NBA season. Among the standout players is James Harden, who, despite being one of the older members of the roster, is demonstrating an elite level of performance. After the Clippers triumphed over the Portland Trail Blazers on December 15, 2025, Harden engaged in a light-hearted exchange with sports journalist Taylor Rooks regarding his age.
During the post-game interview, Rooks highlighted Harden’s impressive statistics, noting that he is one of only four players this season averaging at least 25 points, 5 rebounds, and 8 assists per game. The other players in this exclusive group are Luka Doncic, Nikola Jokic, and Cade Cunningham, who are all significantly younger than the 36-year-old Harden. Rooks playfully remarked, “Don’t let them call you old,” to which Harden quickly responded, “Who said that? You just making your own stuff up, nobody said that but you.”
This humorous exchange underscores Harden’s awareness of the narrative around his age and the perception of the Clippers’ roster, which has faced scrutiny for being older compared to their competitors. Despite the jokes, Harden remains focused on his game and the team’s potential.
“I’m in an unbelievable space,” he said, acknowledging the team’s current 9-21 record. “The record isn’t showing it, but we’re gaining traction, and we got some good signs ahead of us.” Harden emphasized his commitment to maintaining peak physical condition and contributing to the team’s success every night.
As the Clippers strive to improve their standing in the league, recent results indicate a positive shift. Harden’s confidence and performance may play a crucial role in this turnaround. “So, I don’t know about that ‘old’ name, but I feel young, I feel really good,” he concluded, reflecting his determination to lead the Clippers as they aim for a more competitive season.
With the NBA landscape constantly evolving, the Clippers hope to harness the momentum from their recent wins and build on the chemistry developing among their veteran players. As Harden continues to defy age expectations, the team and its fans remain hopeful for a brighter future.
