Trump Attacks Democrats and Blue Cities on New Year’s Eve
Former President Donald Trump used New Year’s Eve to launch a series of attacks against the Democratic Party and leadership in major cities governed by Democrats. On December 31, 2025, Trump took to Truth Social to express his frustrations, stating, “The Democrats are a bunch of cheaters and thieves that never want to do what’s good for America.” He criticized their refusal to consider Voter Identification, alleging that it was a tactic to facilitate electoral fraud.
Hours after making these claims, Trump praised Tina Peters, a former Mesa County clerk and election denier who is currently serving a nine-year prison sentence for allowing unauthorized access to the local election system. Trump remarked, “God Bless Tina Peters, who is now, for two years out of nine, sitting in a Colorado Maximum Security Prison, at the age of 73, and sick, for the ‘crime’ of trying to stop the massive voter fraud that goes on in her State.” He expressed his disdain for the Colorado governor and the district attorney involved in her case, wishing them the worst.
Trump’s Decision on National Guard Troops
In addition to his comments about voter fraud, Trump announced plans to remove National Guard troops from several Democrat-led cities, including Chicago, Los Angeles, and Portland. The presence of these troops was initially justified as a means to combat rising crime rates, though their deployment faced legal challenges and public opposition. Trump stated, “We are removing the National Guard from Chicago, Los Angeles, and Portland, despite the fact that CRIME has been greatly reduced by having these great Patriots in those cities.”
This decision follows a recent Supreme Court ruling that rejected the Trump administration’s justification for deploying troops to Chicago. Trump indicated that the federal government might return to these cities if crime levels rise again, stating, “We will come back, perhaps in a much different and stronger form, when crime begins to soar again – Only a question of time!”
As the year ended, Trump’s rhetoric and decisions reflected his ongoing focus on what he perceives as electoral integrity issues and his commitment to his political base. The implications of his statements and actions are likely to resonate as the political landscape evolves in 2026.
