Intel Unveils AI-Driven Innovations at CES 2026

Intel Corporation showcased significant advancements during the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2026, focusing on the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into its upcoming products. The event highlighted the company’s progress in 18A manufacturing technology, the launch of the Core Ultra Series 3 platform, and a concerted effort to enhance AI capabilities across personal computers and edge devices.

At the event, executives framed AI as a transformative force, impacting “every workflow, every industry, and every device.” Intel emphasized its commitment to delivering its first 18A products by the end of 2025, stating it has exceeded expectations in this area. The company is ramping up production on all three Core Ultra Series 3 die packages, ensuring that advancements in silicon design, process technology, and packaging are tightly integrated.

Pat Gelsinger, CEO of Intel, introduced key innovations such as RibbonFET, a gate-all-around transistor technology aimed at enhancing performance and energy efficiency. Additionally, PowerVia, a backside power delivery approach, supports improved power flow and signaling. These developments are projected to yield up to 15% better performance per watt and over 30% enhanced chip density.

Core Ultra Series 3: An AI-Centric Platform

The Core Ultra Series 3 was positioned as Intel’s first processor built on the 18A technology. Gelsinger noted that virtually every aspect of the chip design has been improved. Key features include new E-cores and P-cores, a larger GPU with built-in ray tracing, and a neural processing unit (NPU) designed for low-power AI tasks. The architecture leverages the power-efficiency foundation established by the Lunar Lake series.

One notable change involves relocating the GPU tile into a separate chiplet, allowing for greater flexibility in pairing GPU capabilities with the CPU based on market demands. Gelsinger also pointed out that redesigned cores for the 18A technology operate at lower voltage, enhancing both performance and efficiency. The introduction of dedicated low-power E-cores aims to optimize battery life for common tasks like web browsing and video conferencing.

Johnson highlighted various platform-level features, including intelligent display technology, context-aware charging, and low-power video conferencing capabilities.

On the performance front, the Core Ultra Series 3 is reported to deliver 60% more performance compared to the Lunar Lake Series 2, with significant power efficiency improvements that allow for streaming 4K video with only one-third of the power used by previous generations.

Graphics Innovations and AI Integration

Intel also focused on its graphics advancements, particularly through the Arc brand. Dan Rogers, General Manager of PC Products, outlined the re-architected software stack and strategies that have led to substantial gaming performance improvements. The newly announced Intel Arc B390 integrated graphics features 50% more graphics cores, double the cache, and includes 96 built-in XMX AI accelerators capable of delivering 120 GPU TOPS.

Testing of the Arc B390 revealed that it offers 70% more gaming performance and 50% increased AI inference performance compared to previous models. Rogers illustrated these capabilities with examples from popular games, demonstrating the GPU’s ability to achieve over 100 frames per second at high settings.

Furthermore, the Arc B390 will feature AI-based multi-frame generation, producing three AI-generated frames for every one rendered frame. This technology aims to enhance gaming performance significantly, as illustrated with examples from EA’s “Battlefield 6.”

Intel’s collaboration with EA has focused on optimizing frame rates and reducing stutter across various processing platforms, ensuring the highest level of performance for gamers.
