Caracas Erupts in Chaos as Maduro Supporters Hunt Trump Fans
UPDATE: Caracas is engulfed in turmoil as armed Maduro supporters flood the streets, creating a climate of fear and uncertainty following the recent capture of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro by U.S. forces. Reports indicate that motorbike gangs and security forces are aggressively searching for Trump supporters and American sympathizers.
In a shocking escalation, armed men with AK rifles have commandeered highways leading into the capital, stopping vehicles to search drivers’ phones and inspect cars. These checkpoints, established by pro-Maduro militants known as Colectivos, have left many Venezuelans too terrified to leave their homes as chaos reigns throughout the city.
Earlier today, the Venezuelan government declared a state of emergency, mandating police to actively hunt down anyone perceived as supportive of U.S. actions against Maduro. The decree orders a nationwide search for individuals involved in promoting or endorsing the armed attack, intensifying the already fraught atmosphere.
Heavy gunfire was reported near the presidential palace late last night, with guards mistakenly opening fire on drones, unaware they were Venezuelan aircraft conducting surveillance. Amid this unrest, Maduro’s only son, Nicolas Ernesto Maduro Guerra, called on Venezuelans to rally together against what he labeled foreign aggression, stating, “You will see us in the streets. You will see a united people.”
This violent response follows the detention of over a dozen media workers covering the unrest in Caracas, according to local press associations. Although all were eventually released, one foreign journalist faced deportation, highlighting the precarious environment for the press.
“History will reveal who the traitors were,” Maduro Guerra asserted, referring to speculation about a spy within his father’s inner circle.
As loyalists scramble to maintain control, opposition leader María Corina Machado expressed her gratitude for Maduro’s arrest, calling it a “huge step for humanity, for freedom.” Machado, who has been in hiding, plans to return to Venezuela as soon as possible. She warned that interim president Delcy Rodríguez, who took over after Maduro’s ousting, “can’t be trusted.”
In a separate development, the U.S. is reportedly planning to seize the sanctioned Venezuelan oil tanker, the Bella 1, which evaded capture last month. Flight tracking data shows U.S. military aircraft monitoring the vessel, currently about 500 miles off the coast of Ireland, raising concerns over international maritime tensions.
Additionally, U.S. President Trump has warned that Rodríguez could face consequences “probably bigger than Maduro” if she defies Washington’s directives. As tensions escalate, Maduro prepared to appear in a U.S. courtroom, where he insisted he is “a prisoner of war,” pleading not guilty alongside his wife, Cilia.
As Caracas grapples with this unprecedented crisis, the situation remains fluid. Citizens are urged to stay indoors as the struggle for power intensifies, with the world watching closely to see how events unfold in this oil-rich nation.
