Metropolitan Opera Launches Live in HD Screening of Kavalier & Clay

The Metropolitan Opera will feature the critically acclaimed opera “The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay” in its Live in HD series. This performance, recorded earlier in the season, will be available in approximately 800 theaters worldwide on January 24, 2024.

Based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Michael Chabon, the opera is composed by Mason Bates with a libretto by Gene Scheer. Conducted by Music Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin, the production showcases a talented cast. Baritone Andrzej Filończyk stars as Joe Kavalier, while tenor Miles Mykkanen takes on the role of Sam Clay. Additional cast members include soprano Lauren Snouffer as Sarah Kavalier, mezzo-soprano Sun-Ly Pierce as Rosa Saks, and baritone Edward Nelson as Tracy Bacon. Bass-baritones Patrick Carfizzi and Craig Colclough portray Sheldon Anapol and Gerhard, respectively.
