Beau Pribula Transfers to Virginia After Intense College Visits

The college football landscape shifted dramatically as quarterback Beau Pribula announced his transfer to the Virginia Cavaliers after an extensive search through the NCAA transfer portal. This decision comes after an intriguing series of visits, marking his sixth stop during this transfer cycle.

In recent days, the quarterback market has generated significant buzz, with players like Desmond Williams of Washington and Kenny Minchey from Nebraska making headlines. The Cavaliers sought a new quarterback following the NCAA’s denial of Chandler Morris‘s request for a seventh year. Pribula’s visit to Virginia was pivotal, as the program previously showed interest in DJ Lagway before securing Pribula’s commitment.

Pribula’s recruitment journey included visits to Nebraska, Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, Washington, and Tennessee. His experience at Nebraska coincided with a swift change in the coaching staff’s plans as they shifted from Minchey to Anthony Colandrea. During his visit to Washington, Pribula was brought in to provide depth amid uncertainties surrounding quarterback Williams, although those concerns have since been resolved.

Despite his commitment to Virginia, the unpredictable nature of college football means that Pribula’s situation remains fluid until he officially signs with the Cavaliers. His performance at Missouri in the previous season was noteworthy, as he stepped into a starting role following an injury to Sam Horn. In ten games, Pribula completed 182 of 270 passes for 1,941 yards, achieving 11 touchdowns and 9 interceptions, while also contributing on the ground with 95 carries for 297 yards and an additional 6 touchdowns.

One of his standout performances came on September 6, 2023, when he led Missouri to a 42-31 victory against Kansas, completing 30 of 39 passes for 334 yards and 3 touchdowns without an interception. Pribula’s college career began at Penn State, where he was a three-star prospect in 2022. Over 24 appearances for the Nittany Lions, he completed 37 of 56 passes for 424 yards, recording 9 touchdowns against just 1 interception, while also rushing for 571 yards and 10 touchdowns.

As Pribula prepares for his final season at Virginia, he joins a program that recently made an appearance in the 2025 ACC Championship, facing his former team, Missouri, in the Gator Bowl, which Virginia won 13-7. Although Pribula did not play in that game due to his transfer decision, he is now poised to make an impact in the ACC.

Pribula is currently ranked as the No. 15 quarterback in the transfer portal, according to 247Sports. With his previous experience and performance, the Cavaliers will be looking to leverage his skills as they aim for success in the upcoming season.
