Carter County Schools Celebrates Educators’ Achievements

Carter County Schools recognized outstanding educators during its January 2024 school board meeting, celebrating their dedication and commitment to student success. This event highlighted the achievements of several teachers who were named Novice District Teachers of the Year and those who achieved tenure, marking important milestones in their educational careers.

Honoring Exceptional Talent

The recipients of the Novice District Teacher of the Year awards included Kaylee Ingram from Unaka Elementary School for the PreK-4th grade category, Leeanne Nelson from Cloudland High School for the 5th-8th grade category, and Cody McClain, also from Cloudland High School, for the high school category. These educators demonstrated exceptional passion and innovation, creating positive learning environments that benefit students across the district.

In addition to recognizing novice teachers, the district also honored a group of educators who have achieved tenure. This recognition reflects their years of dedicated service and professional excellence. The tenure recipients included Layken Peters and Charles (Ben) Ensor from Happy Valley Elementary and Happy Valley High School, respectively, along with Hunter Buchanan and Tiffany Laws from Cloudland High School, and Sonya Brewer from Hampton Elementary School.
