Community Mourns the Loss of Ben C. Bolech Sr. at 97

Ben C. Bolech Sr., a beloved member of the Victoria community, passed away on January 14, 2026, at the age of 97. His legacy includes a devoted family, a lifetime of service to his church, and a passion for his rural lifestyle. Bolech was born on November 28, 1928, in Shiner, Texas, and left an indelible mark on those who knew him.

Married to Marian (Darilek) Bolech on September 12, 1950, they raised three children: Margaret Rogers, Patricia Boldt (Raymond), and Ben Bolech Jr.. The couple enjoyed a marriage that lasted 62 years until Marian’s passing. Ben is also survived by three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, who carry on his family values and teachings.

Career and Community Involvement

After completing high school, Bolech moved to Victoria, where he dedicated 33 years to working at Groce Wearden followed by a decade at Scrivener Grocery Distribution. His professional life was marked by a strong work ethic and a commitment to his responsibilities, earning him respect among colleagues and friends alike.

As a parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church for nearly 75 years, Bolech was deeply involved in church activities. He was a member of the Holy Name Society, Knights of Columbus Council 1329, and the St. Vincent de Paul Society. His dedication to faith and community service was evident in his regular attendance at Mass and his efforts to support fellow parishioners.

Personal Interests and Legacy

Beyond his professional and spiritual commitments, Bolech had a rich personal life. He enjoyed spending time at his ranch, tending to cattle, and engaging in woodworking and whittling. His love for nature was evident in his favourite pastime of sitting on the back porch, listening to birds while sipping coffee and conversing with friends about various topics. He also cherished driving along back roads, attending Catholic Church festivals, and supporting the Dallas Cowboys.

Ben Bolech Sr. is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Marian, and his daughter Margaret. His family expresses gratitude to the staff at Citizens Hospital for their compassionate care, as well as the team at Hospice of South Texas Dornburg Center of Compassion.
