16 Handles Expands with New Locations in San Antonio Area
16 Handles, a popular frozen yogurt chain, is set to expand its presence in Texas with the opening of two new locations in the Greater San Antonio area. The company aims to launch the new stores by late summer 2024, specifically near the Stone Oak neighborhood. Despite requests for specific details, a company representative did not disclose the exact addresses of the upcoming shops.
The announcement follows a significant trend for 16 Handles, which has experienced considerable growth since its inception. Founded in 2008 by Solomon Choi, it became New York City’s first self-serve froyo shop. The brand has since adapted to changing market demands, focusing on community engagement and innovation. With Neil Hershman at the helm since his acquisition of the company in 2010, the chain now boasts nearly 40 locations across the United States, including four in Texas.
In a conversation with Fred Frey, Vice President of Franchise Development at 16 Handles, further insights into the expansion were shared, although specific franchisee details remain undisclosed. This growing interest in the San Antonio market highlights the brand’s commitment to reaching new customers and providing a customizable dessert experience.
Originally, 16 Handles offered 16 yogurt flavors, a concept that has since evolved. Today’s menu features an extensive array of flavors, including cake batter, butter bear, and chocolate daydream—a no-added-sugar option. Customers can also enhance their froyo with a variety of toppings, as well as enjoy smoothies, milkshakes, and soft serve ice cream.
The impending openings in the Greater San Antonio region represent a significant step for 16 Handles as it continues to establish itself in the competitive frozen yogurt market. As the company prepares for this expansion, updates on the exact locations and opening dates will be provided as they become available.
This development reflects not only the brand’s growth strategy but also its ability to adapt and thrive in an evolving industry landscape. With its unique offerings and community-focused approach, 16 Handles aims to capture the attention of San Antonio’s dessert lovers this summer.
