Community Mourns the Loss of Raymond Hertzfeld in Florida
Raymond Hertzfeld, affectionately known as Buddy, passed away on January 12, 2026, in Bushnell, Florida. Born in Lansing, Michigan, he was the son of Raymond Francis Hertzfeld and Jeanette Helen Komaromi. The family relocated to Lady Lake, Florida, where Buddy spent the majority of his life, building a reputation as a skilled handyman.
Throughout his career, Buddy showcased his talents in various fields, including automotive mechanics and woodworking. Friends and family often turned to him for help with repairs and projects, a testament to his practical skills and willingness to assist others. In addition to his work, he cherished his time outdoors, often enjoying activities such as driving mud trucks and four-wheelers.
Buddy is survived by his children, including Jeanette Renee (known as Sugar), her husband Jay, Bruce, and Raymond Francis Hertzfeld III, affectionately nicknamed Bubba. His legacy also lives on through his grandchildren, RJ, Daxlee, Sisilee, and Naomi.
His family extends beyond the immediate, with siblings Wendie (husband, Terry), Brenda (husband, Mark), Cheryl (husband, Rodney), Shelly (husband, John), Rachelle (husband, Tom), and brother Tom (wife, Tori). Buddy’s uncles, Mitch (wife, Susan), Mike, and George, along with his aunt, Carol, also survive him. He leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, all of whom will remember him fondly.
Despite his passing, Buddy’s spirit remains alive in the hearts of those who knew him. The community of Bushnell and the surrounding areas are gathering to celebrate his life and the impact he had on so many.
As tributes pour in, it is clear that Buddy was loved by many, and his presence will be deeply missed. Friends and family are encouraged to share their memories and stories to honor his legacy.
