Minnesota Nonprofit Leader Denies Guilt in $250M Fraud Case

The leader of *Feeding Our Future*, a Minnesota-based nonprofit, is contesting her conviction in a case linked to the largest pandemic relief fraud scheme in U.S. history. Aimee Bock, aged 45, was found guilty in March 2023 of orchestrating a scheme that fraudulently acquired approximately $250 million in federal funds intended to provide meals for underprivileged children.

In an exclusive interview with CBS News, Bock asserted her innocence, claiming she was unfairly labeled the “mastermind” of the fraudulent activities. The scandal has led to charges against 78 defendants, with over 60 individuals either pleading guilty or being convicted. Bock’s statements come as she awaits sentencing for her role in the case.

However, Bock argues that she took steps to prevent fraudulent claims from being processed. “I was the only one that stopped a claim and said, ‘this is fraudulent,’” she stated, highlighting that millions of dollars in claims were refused.

Bock also filed a lawsuit against the Minnesota Department of Education, alleging racial discrimination in the rejection of certain applicants for the food program. She claims that state officials used her as a “scapegoat” for their failure to effectively monitor the program’s food vendors. Bock pointed out that officials, including Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), visited meal pickup sites to oversee operations.

“We relied on the state,” Bock explained. “We told the state, this site is going to operate at this address, this time, and this number of children. The state would then tell us that’s approved.”
