The Cleveland Browns have shared new renderings for their future home, the Huntington Bank Field, located in Brook Park. The team, in collaboration with the architecture firm HKS, has revealed plans that promise to enhance the fan experience, particularly for the iconic Dawg Pound section known for its passionate supporters.

The new stadium will feature covered seating designed to mimic the layout of soccer venues. This innovative approach aims to improve sightlines for fans, ensuring a better view of the action, regardless of where they are seated. The sloping seats not only enhance visibility but also create an environment that amplifies the fan experience, as sound reflects back into the stadium, potentially providing a competitive advantage for the home team.

Hanford Dixon and Frank Minnifield, former defensive backs, originally established the Dawg Pound at the Cleveland Municipal Stadium in 1985. The new design seeks to honor this legacy while elevating the overall atmosphere. Unlike the previous setup, which lacked individual seating and relied on benches, the new stadium promises greater comfort and a more engaging experience for fans.

According to reports from HKS, the concourses within Huntington Bank Field will span approximately 377,000 square feet. This expansive area is intended to facilitate mingling and social interaction among fans, addressing past concerns about crowding and discomfort. As noted by sports journalist George M. Thomas, the new venue aims to eliminate the feeling of being packed tightly together, which was often the case in older stadiums.

Renderings of the stadium showcase a striking entrance featuring a large video screen, signaling the venue’s ambition to be more than just a sports facility. It is envisioned as a welcoming space for fans, embodying a sense of home during game days. The Browns’ ownership, led by the Haslams, is committed to creating an inviting atmosphere that reflects the team’s rich history and its passionate fan base.

As the groundbreaking approaches, anticipation is building among fans eager to experience the new Huntington Bank Field. The plans represent a significant investment in the future of the franchise and its supporters, promising to redefine what it means to be part of the Dawg Pound.
