Menemsha Films Secures North American Rights to ‘The Soundman’
Menemsha Films has acquired the North American distribution rights for the Belgian drama The Soundman, which premiered to positive reviews at the Palm Springs International Film Festival in January 2024. This film, directed by Frank Van Passel, explores the experiences of Belgian Jews during the tumultuous period leading up to the German invasion of Belgium and the Netherlands.
Set against the backdrop of Brussels’ historic Maison de la Radio Flagey, the film delves into the emotional turmoil faced by its characters as they navigate love and uncertainty. The narrative centers on Elza, portrayed by Femke Vanhove, a young actress making her debut in radio drama. She forms a bond with Berre, a talented soundman and foley expert known for his extraordinary auditory skills. Their romance blossoms as the ominous shadow of war looms over their lives.
