FBI Links DNA from Gloves to Suspect in Nancy Guthrie Case

The FBI has made significant progress in the investigation of missing woman Nancy Guthrie, revealing that DNA from a pair of gloves found near her home in Pima County, Arizona, may match those worn by a suspect captured on surveillance footage. This information was disclosed following searches in the area surrounding Guthrie’s residence.

According to an FBI spokesperson, investigators recovered a total of 16 pairs of gloves during their search. Among these, one pair stands out as it contains a DNA profile that appears to match the gloves seen on the individual in the surveillance video. The gloves were discovered approximately two miles from the Guthrie residence in a field alongside a road.

In a statement provided to Fox Digital, the FBI confirmed that the gloves were collected by the Pima County Sheriff’s Department (PCSD) and dispatched overnight on February 12, 2023, arriving at a private laboratory in Florida the following day. The FBI received preliminary results on February 14, 2023, and is currently awaiting quality control and official confirmation before entering the unknown male DNA profile into CoDIS, the FBI’s national database. This process generally takes around 24 hours from the time the bureau receives the DNA sample.

The FBI spokesperson elaborated on the findings, stating, “Investigators collected approximately 16 gloves in various areas near the house. Most of them were searchers’ gloves that they discarded in various areas when they searched the vicinity. The one with the DNA profile recovered is different and appears to match the gloves of the subject in the surveillance video.”

The investigation continues to draw attention as the local sheriff involved in the case expressed concern regarding the timeline for locating Nancy Guthrie, whose disappearance has raised alarm in the community. The sheriff’s comments highlight the urgency of the situation, as authorities strive to bring clarity to the ongoing case.
