Josh Duhamel and Sharlto Copley Join Daisy Ridley in Action Thriller

The upcoming action thriller, The Good Samaritan, has secured a star-studded cast with the addition of Josh Duhamel and Sharlto Copley alongside Daisy Ridley. Directed by Pierre Morel, known for his work on Taken and Peppermint, the film promises to deliver high-stakes excitement and a gripping narrative.

In The Good Samaritan, Ridley plays Dr. Rosalind Carver, a successful entrepreneur. The plot unfolds as she and her husband, Matt, discover a wounded man while sailing off the coast of Indonesia. This chance encounter leads them into a perilous conspiracy. Within hours, Matt is abducted by a band of ruthless pirates led by Copley’s character, Langbore. In a desperate bid to rescue him, Rosalind teams up with a seasoned ex-mercenary portrayed by Duhamel, who has his own motivations for confronting the pirates and exposing a global trafficking network.

The film’s screenplay comes from Matthew Ian Cirulnick, who previously worked on Rambo: Last Blood. Production is set to commence in July 2024, with Mark Canton and Dorothy Canton producing for Canton Entertainment in collaboration with Oakhurst Pictures and Renee Tab of Sentient Entertainment.

International Sales and Production Details

Highland Film Group is managing international rights and is actively presenting the film to buyers at the European Film Market in Berlin. The U.S. domestic rights are co-represented by CAA Media Finance and UTA Independent Film Group.

Delphine Perrier, COO of Highland, added that with Morel leading the project and the impressive cast, the film is poised to be a crowd-pleaser.

The executive production team includes Morel, Cirulnick, Ryan Winterstern, and David Hopwood, along with Fraser, Perrier, and David Lipper from Highland Film Group. Karley Ferlic from Canton Entertainment will also serve as a co-producer.

Duhamel is currently featured in Netflix’s Ransom Canyon and is set to appear in Not Without Hope, a thriller directed by Joe Carnahan, scheduled for release in 2025. Copley, widely recognized for his performances in District 9 and Chappie, recently appeared in Monkey Man, directed by Dev Patel, and in the Netflix series The Witcher.

With its compelling storyline and strong ensemble cast, The Good Samaritan is set to attract significant attention from audiences when it hits theaters.
