Residents Report Padel Court Construction to Police in Jakarta
A construction project for a padel court in Permata Hijau, Kebayoran Lama, Jakarta, has been reported to the police following complaints from local residents. The report was filed by a concerned resident, accompanied by legal counsel, at the Polda Metro Jaya, officially documented under case number LP/B/863/II/2026/SPKT/POLDA METRO JAYA on February 2, 2026.
Kombes Budi Hermanto, the Chief of Public Relations for Polda Metro Jaya, confirmed the receipt of the complaint during a press statement to reporters on February 24, 2026. He stated that the report pertains to allegations of disturbances to public peace, citing Article 265 of the Indonesian Criminal Code as the relevant legislation under which the complaint is filed.
According to Hermanto, the handling of the case has been transferred to the Polres Metro Jakarta Selatan for further processing. He emphasized that the local police would investigate the claims thoroughly to determine the validity of the disturbances reported by the resident.
The construction of recreational facilities, such as padel courts, has been increasingly popular in urban areas, but it can lead to conflicts between developers and local communities. Residents often voice concerns over noise, traffic, and environmental impacts associated with these projects.
In this instance, the resident’s legal representative has articulated that the ongoing construction has significantly disrupted the tranquility of the neighborhood, prompting the formal complaint. As the investigation unfolds, it remains to be seen how the local authorities will address both the concerns of the residents and the interests of the developers involved in the padel court project.
Local authorities in Jakarta have previously faced similar challenges with other recreational developments, highlighting the delicate balance between urban development and community response. The outcome of this case could set a precedent for how future projects are approached in densely populated areas.
