UPDATE: A missing 2-year-old girl has been found safe in the woods of Dorchester, New Hampshire, thanks to the quick actions of a dedicated volunteer and his search dog. The child vanished late Friday afternoon while playing in her front yard, prompting an urgent search that mobilized nearly 100 volunteers within hours.

Authorities received the call around 5:00 PM on October 15, 2025, reporting the toddler missing for over 45 minutes. The girl had been playing with two dogs when the gate to her yard unexpectedly opened, allowing her to wander off.

As darkness approached, the situation escalated, leading to a massive search effort. Among the volunteers was Jeremy Corson and his K-9 partner, Freya, from New England K-9 Search and Rescue. Their teamwork proved vital, leading to the girl’s safe recovery.

McKee, a conservation officer with New Hampshire Fish and Game, confirmed the good news: “The child wasn’t hurt and was overjoyed to see Freya when found.” Following her rescue, she was promptly taken to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center for evaluation.

The sense of community was palpable, with Corson expressing gratitude for the overwhelming support from local volunteers. “Without the volunteers and all the other agencies that were there, it might not have had a happy ending like it did,” he stated.

This heartwarming conclusion emphasizes the impact of community collaboration in emergencies. As authorities continue to stress the importance of vigilance when it comes to children’s safety, this story serves as a reminder of the dedicated individuals ready to step up in times of crisis.
