Bruce Pearl and Robbie Hummel Join CBS Sports’ College Basketball Team
CBS Sports has announced the addition of former Auburn head coach Bruce Pearl and former Purdue player Robbie Hummel to its college basketball coverage team. Both analysts will participate in calling regular-season games and contributing to studio segments, enhancing the network’s offerings as it heads into the NCAA Tournament.
In a significant move for CBS Sports, Pearl, who stepped down from his role at Auburn last month, will serve as a studio analyst. Hummel will take on the role of game analyst during CBS Sports and TNT Sports’ joint coverage of the NCAA Tournament. This collaboration promises to bring fresh insights and analysis to viewers throughout March Madness.
Bruce Pearl concluded his coaching tenure at Auburn after leading the Tigers to their second Final Four appearance in program history. Under his leadership, Auburn secured the No. 1 ranking for a substantial portion of the previous season and earned a top seed in the NCAA Tournament. The Tigers, however, faced a setback in the national semifinals, losing to Florida in what would be Pearl’s final game as head coach. His coaching career is marked by a commendable record of 706 wins against 268 losses across programs at Southern Indiana, Milwaukee, Tennessee, and Auburn.
Hummel, a standout player at Purdue, brings a wealth of experience to CBS Sports. He has previously been involved in basketball coverage and is well-regarded in the sports community. His role as a game analyst during the NCAA Tournament will offer fans a unique perspective on the action unfolding on the court.
As the college basketball season progresses, CBS Sports is positioning itself with a robust roster of analysts. The inclusion of Pearl and Hummel will undoubtedly enhance the viewing experience for fans, particularly during the high-stakes environment of the NCAA Tournament.
In a related development, Steven Pearl, Bruce Pearl’s son, has been named the new head coach at Auburn, taking over after his father’s successful tenure. Steven has served as an assistant coach under his father since 2017, bringing continuity to the program as it transitions to a new leadership era.
With the college basketball landscape continuously evolving, CBS Sports remains committed to providing comprehensive coverage and expert analysis. The contributions from both Bruce Pearl and Robbie Hummel are expected to resonate well with audiences as they delve into the excitement of the upcoming season and the NCAA Tournament.
