Braxton Alpers Sets Record with Six Touchdowns in St. John Victory

In an electrifying display of athleticism, St. John’s Braxton Alpers rushed for a school-record 356 yards and scored six touchdowns, leading the Tigers to a commanding 64-36 victory over Stafford in an 8-Man 2, District 7 matchup on Friday. Alpers not only excelled offensively but also made significant contributions on defense, recording 15 tackles and forcing a fumble.

The Tigers showcased their rushing prowess, amassing a total of 447 yards on the ground from 39 attempts. In addition to Alpers, Easton Alpers added a touchdown with 54 rushing yards, while Jace Reyes contributed with a 6-yard touchdown run and nine tackles.

Stafford’s quarterback, Dylan Brozek, also had a remarkable performance, generating 397 yards of total offense, including two rushing touchdowns and three touchdown passes to Landon Marks, who caught six passes for 220 yards. Despite Brozek’s efforts, Stafford fell to 2-5 on the season, with a 1-3 record in the district.

Close Call for Conway Springs Against Ellinwood

In another thrilling encounter, Conway Springs edged out Ellinwood 17-14 in a nail-biting double overtime game, marking the longest contest in Eagle football history. The decisive moment came when Eli Benge successfully converted a 20-yard field goal in the second overtime.

The game began with Logan Osner scoring a 54-yard rushing touchdown for an early lead. Ellinwood responded with a touchdown from Cade Coleman and a successful two-point conversion from Drake Hosman, leveling the score at 8-8.

The first overtime saw Osner push through for another short touchdown run, matched by Hosman’s ten-yard scoring run. However, a critical two-point conversion attempt by Austin Brack failed, prolonging the contest. After Ellinwood could not score in their overtime possession, Benge sealed the victory for Conway Springs.

Osner’s standout performance saw him rush for 175 yards on 27 carries, contributing significantly to Conway Springs’ total of 251 rushing yards. Following this match, Conway Springs improved to 2-5 overall and 1-3 in the district, while Ellinwood’s record fell to 4-3 with a 1-3 district standing.

High-Flying Action in Little River and Victoria

The excitement continued in the 8-Man 1, District 3 game where Little River overwhelmed Central Plains with a score of 68-32. Quarterback Jaxson Konen threw for four touchdowns and rushed for 201 yards, while Jaren Garrison added 164 rushing yards and three touchdowns. The Redskins’ offensive display resulted in a total of 537 yards of offense.

In a dominating performance, Victoria defeated Macksville 64-6, with Mason Mauch and Weston Scherrer each scoring three touchdowns. Mauch’s contributions included multiple runs, showcasing the strength of Victoria’s offense as they advanced to a perfect 7-0 record.
