The Historical Society of Woodstock is set to host a screening of the short film “Vanishing Village” on November 1, 2023. This event will take place at the society’s Eames Museum, located at 20 Comeau Drive, from 15:00 to 16:00.

The film is inspired by Will Rose’s book, The Vanishing Village, and features narration by Lewis Arlt, who reads from the book’s first chapter. The film showcases historical images of Woodstock as they appeared in 1903, reflecting the essence of the community during that era.

Discussion to Follow Film Screening

After the screening, attendees will have the opportunity to engage in a discussion led by Lewis Arlt and co-producer Janine Fallon Mower. They will delve into the creative process behind the film and share insights into how the project came to life.

This event is open to the public, with a suggested donation of $20, which includes a copy of Rose‘s book. Additional copies will also be available for purchase, allowing attendees to further explore the historical context of the film.

For more information about the event, interested individuals can contact the Historical Society of Woodstock via email at [email protected].
