On November 11, 2023, numerous restaurants across the United States will honor active-duty service members and veterans by offering free meals and discounts in celebration of Veterans Day. This annual tradition provides a way for restaurants to express gratitude for the sacrifices made by those who have served in the military.

Many well-known chains are participating in this initiative. For instance, Applebee’s will provide free full-sized entrees to active-duty military, veterans, reserves, and National Guard members. Choices include a 6-ounce top sirloin, classic bacon cheeseburger, and chicken tenders platter. Additionally, customers will receive a $5 bounce back card for future dining, valid for three weeks.

In Colorado, Bad Daddy’s Burger Bar will offer a free all-American burger with cheese and a classic side from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Veterans Day. Similarly, BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse will treat veterans and active-duty service members to a complimentary chocolate chunk Pizookie when they dine in and purchase an entrée.

Another notable participant is Blaze Pizza, which will give a free one-topping pizza to veterans and active-duty military personnel. The chain will also donate $1 from every pizza sold that day to Folds of Honor, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing educational scholarships to military families.

Veterans can also enjoy discounts at Buffalo’s Cafe, which offers 25% off meals (excluding alcohol) for those dining in. Meanwhile, Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen will provide a free appetizer or dessert to veterans and active-duty military members.

Several other restaurants are contributing to the celebration as well. At Chili’s, veterans can select a free entrée from a designated menu, including options like the Oldtimer with cheese and fries or chicken bacon ranch quesadillas. In Florida, Cody’s Original Roadhouse will offer a free entrée, such as a half rack of ribs or grilled barbecue chicken breast, to all veterans and active-duty military who dine in.

Veterans can also look forward to a complimentary Sunrise Pancake Breakfast at Cracker Barrel, featuring two buttermilk pancakes, eggs, and a choice of breakfast meat. Other offers include Dog Haus, which will provide a free Haus Dog, and Freddy’s, which is giving away a free Freddy’s Combo meal card valid through December 31.

As part of this nationwide effort, Golden Corral will serve free buffet meals to all active-duty military personnel, retirees, reservists, guardsmen, and veterans starting at 4 p.m. on Veterans Day. Hard Rock Cafe will offer a free classic smash burger, which can be combined with a 15% military discount.

Restaurants such as Texas Roadhouse will distribute meal vouchers from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., while Yard House will provide veterans and active military members with a complimentary appetizer.

This Veterans Day initiative reflects a growing trend among restaurants to support military personnel and their families. Many establishments see this as an opportunity not only to give back but also to foster community ties and show appreciation for the sacrifices made by service members.

With numerous options available, veterans and active-duty military personnel are encouraged to take advantage of these offers, which demonstrate a collective appreciation for their service. Participation in this initiative continues to grow, with restaurants eager to honor those who have served their country.
