Remembering Cecil Dennis Dale Sr.: A Life of Family and Service
Cecil Dennis Dale Sr., a beloved father and dedicated community member, passed away peacefully at the age of 68 on November 4, 2025, in Reno, Nevada. Surrounded by his sons, he left a legacy of love and kindness that touched the lives of many.
Born on December 9, 1956, in Garberville, California, to Lowery and Nettie Dale, Cecil, known as Dennis to friends and family, moved shortly after to Laytonville, California. He graduated from Laytonville High School in 1975, where he excelled as a multi-sport athlete. His passion for sports would later inspire him to coach youth teams in his community.
In 1976, Dennis married Laura Sullivan and settled in Ukiah, California, where they raised their two sons, Cecil Dale Jr. and Matthew Dale, born in 1981 and 1983, respectively. A dedicated family man, Dennis prioritized his family’s well-being above all else. He was a constant presence at his sons’ Little League games and their motocross events, fostering a spirit of participation and support.
Dennis built a successful career as a millwright, beginning his journey at Delario’s Lumber before moving on to Masonite and Louisiana Pacific. He dedicated his entire working life to this trade until the mill operations ceased. Following his retirement, he relocated to Reno to be closer to his siblings, Leroy Dale and Debbie Hurst.
His talents extended beyond his profession; he was also a skilled welder and mechanic. He took pride in passing these skills on to his children, who continue to use them today. Dennis was known for his gentle spirit and selflessness, always placing the needs of others before his own.
Dennis is survived by his sons, Cecil Dale Jr. and Matthew Dale, and his grandchildren, Gavin Dale, Gwyneth Dale, and Gage Dale. He is also survived by his brother, Wayne Dale.
The family will hold graveside services at Willits Cemetery, located at 1200 State Highway 20, Willits, California, on November 29, 2025, at 11:00 AM. Friends and family are invited to honor a life well-lived and to share memories of a man who made a significant impact on those around him.
