Oregon Energy Facility Siting Council to Discuss Renewable Projects
The Oregon Energy Facility Siting Council (EFSC) will convene on March 19-20, 2024, at the SAGE Center in Boardman. The meeting will address significant developments in renewable energy, specifically focusing on the Wheatridge Renewable Energy Facility III Amendment 1 and the Leaning Juniper IIB Wind Power Facility.
On March 19, the council’s session will commence at 17:30 local time. During this meeting, a public hearing will take place regarding the proposed order for the Wheatridge Renewable Energy Facility III, a solar power installation generating 50 megawatts across 357 acres in Morrow County. This facility represents a vital step in Oregon’s ongoing transition towards renewable energy sources.
The following day, on March 20, the council will conduct a transfer hearing starting at 09:30. This session will include a review of the draft final order for the Leaning Juniper IIB Wind Power Facility. The wind project, located in Gilliam County, features 74 wind turbines spread over an expansive 8,000 acres.
Members of the public are encouraged to attend the meetings, either in person at the SAGE Center or virtually through the online Webex platform. The full agenda for the sessions is accessible online, providing detailed information on the topics to be discussed.
These meetings underscore the council’s commitment to facilitating renewable energy projects that align with Oregon’s energy goals. By engaging with the community and stakeholders, the EFSC aims to ensure transparency and public involvement in the decision-making process.
