Texas Man’s Social Media Initiative Boosts Farmers Market Vendors
A man from Texas is transforming the fortunes of farmers market vendors through a simple yet impactful social media initiative. David Dominguez, known online as @davidspov_, visits farmers markets across Texas to spotlight vendors who are struggling with low customer engagement. His mission is straightforward: he shares their stories in short videos, focusing on those vendors who often go unnoticed.
Dominguez’s series, titled “Only buying from vendors with NO customers at the farmers market,” has gained traction, reaching audiences nationwide. His efforts have had profound effects on the businesses he features, with one notable example being Dawna Thompson and her small business, Dawna’s Jerky. After Dominguez showcased her booth at a market in Rosenberg, Texas, Thompson experienced an overwhelming surge in orders.
“After David featured us, we woke up to our phones exploding with notifications,” Thompson recounted in an interview with Click2Houston. Initially, the couple feared that their website had been compromised. Instead, they discovered they had received orders from customers all across the country. “We still have like 2,200 orders,” she added. “Every time we ship, we just keep getting more in.”
Dominguez began this initiative in 2025 after he was laid off, using his newfound free time to make a positive impact. “My family likes to go to a lot of markets,” he explained. “When I started seeing I could help businesses, I thought maybe I could make some content and help them that way.”
His approach has taken him to various cities across Texas, including Austin, Dallas, San Antonio, and El Paso. By amplifying the voices of small vendors, Dominguez is not only giving them visibility but also fostering community support. “They catch my attention,” he said, “and I try to help them out as much as I can.”
The success stories emerging from his project underline the power of social media as a tool for community engagement and economic growth. Vendors like Dawna Thompson are finding renewed hope in their businesses, demonstrating how a single post can spark significant change.
Dominguez’s work serves as a reminder that sometimes, all it takes is a little visibility to uplift those who are often overlooked. As he continues his journey across Texas, many vendors are eager for their moment in the spotlight, hoping for the same life-changing impact that Thompson experienced.
