The Children’s Discovery Center in Kakaako welcomed families to celebrate the New Year early during its annual New Year at Noon event on December 31, 2025. The occasion drew dozens of children, or keiki, who engaged in a variety of activities designed to foster joy and creativity as they counted down to noon.

Three-year-old Miu Oda was among the attendees, delighting in the festive atmosphere by playfully holding balloons in her mouth. The event featured a noon balloon drop, a highlight for many young participants who eagerly awaited the colorful cascade of balloons. This moment brought smiles and laughter, filling the center with a sense of excitement.

In addition to the balloon drop, children enjoyed a range of interactive activities. Ava Cruz, also three years old, took a moment to think about her New Year wishes alongside her mother, Valerie Cruz. This engaging event provided a platform for children to express their hopes and dreams in a fun and supportive environment.

The Children’s Discovery Center offered various play areas, including a pillow cushion room where young visitors could explore and enjoy tactile experiences. Jimmy Sheehan and his 18-month-old son, Finn Sheehan, found amusement in a distortion mirror, further contributing to the lighthearted atmosphere. Two-year-old Kaia Robinson was captivated by her own reflection, showcasing the enchanting nature of the event.

The New Year at Noon event not only marked the impending arrival of 2026 but also served as a community gathering point for families. Parents, children, and caregivers shared in the celebration, creating lasting memories in a vibrant and welcoming setting. As the clock approached noon, the anticipation built, culminating in a joyful celebration that resonated with the spirit of togetherness.

The Children’s Discovery Center continues to play a vital role in the community, offering events that encourage learning through play. With a focus on engaging young minds, the center provides a nurturing environment where children can explore, discover, and celebrate milestones together. The New Year at Noon event exemplified this mission, leaving families with cherished moments as they stepped into a new year filled with potential.
