Fans of Marvel Studios’ upcoming films, Avengers: Doomsday and Spider-Man: Brand New Day, received disappointing news as it was confirmed that trailers for both highly anticipated projects will not debut during Super Bowl LX. This marks a significant shift for the entertainment giant, which has traditionally used the popular sporting event to showcase new footage from its films.

According to Deadline, both Marvel Studios and Sony have decided to forgo this year’s Super Bowl. This decision is particularly notable as it represents the first time in several years that Marvel will not participate in the event, where they have consistently unveiled trailers for their upcoming releases. While Sony has a history of skipping the Super Bowl, Marvel’s absence is unexpected for fans eagerly awaiting new content.

Despite the absence of trailers during the Super Bowl, there remains a possibility that the Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer could be launched online around this time, although no official announcement has been made regarding its release.

The anticipation surrounding both films is palpable, driven by rumors, theories, and plot leaks. Avengers: Doomsday promises to bring back Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, pitting him against a formidable lineup of heroes that includes the Avengers, New Avengers, Fantastic Four, and the X-Men. Additionally, Chris Evans will reprise his role as Steve Rogers, marking his return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) seven years after his last appearance in Avengers: Endgame.

In parallel, Spider-Man: Brand New Day will see Tom Holland return as the beloved web-slinger. This installment will feature the character navigating challenges alongside Jon Bernthal‘s Punisher and Mark Ruffalo‘s Hulk. The storyline will delve into the complexities of Spider-Man’s dual life, particularly following the dramatic events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, where a memory-wipe spell cast by Doctor Strange resulted in the world forgetting his secret identity.

The release schedule for these films is set, with Spider-Man: Brand New Day expected to hit theaters on July 31, 2026, followed by Avengers: Doomsday on December 18, 2026. Prior to the latter’s debut, a re-release of Avengers: Endgame is planned for September 25, 2026.

Directing Brand New Day is Destin Daniel Cretton, based on a screenplay by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. Meanwhile, Anthony and Joe Russo will direct Doomsday, with a script penned by Michael Waldron and Stephen McFeely. The Russo brothers will also co-produce the film under their production banner, AGBO.

As fans eagerly await further updates, the absence of trailers at the Super Bowl serves as a reminder of the shifting landscape in film promotion. The excitement surrounding these Marvel titles continues to build, underscoring their significant place in contemporary cinema.
