A new animated series titled Armorsaurs is set to captivate young audiences by combining the adventurous spirit of dinosaurs with superhero themes. Producer Kevin Yi and the cast, including Jailen Bates, Avianna Mynhier, and Sade Louise, recently shared insights about the show’s origins and its homage to beloved cartoons from the 80s and 90s.

The series aims to introduce a fresh generation to a vibrant world filled with dinosaur action and relatable characters. While the show features armored dinosaurs and superpowers, its core narrative focuses on the evolving relationships among the young heroes. The creators emphasize the importance of sincerity and relatability in storytelling, which they believe resonates well with today’s children.

Kevin Yi reflects on his childhood inspirations, stating, “We’re definitely paying homage to those things, and I think if you watch really, really carefully, there are definitely some analogues that you can see as you watch the season.” He aims to revive a sense of genuine connection that he feels is often absent in modern children’s media. “There’s a lot of stuff out there that’s really cynical, and I think kids can fall into that because the world is a scary place,” he added.

The show seeks to address complex themes such as anxiety and judgment while remaining accessible to children. Avianna Mynhier, who voices a character named Paloma, notes the significance of portraying multidimensional characters in children’s programming. “I really only wanted to be involved in a kid show that acknowledged kids’ intelligence,” she said, highlighting her character’s journey beyond superficial traits.

As the cast shared their experiences, Jailen Bates spoke about his character Liam, emphasizing the depth and emotional range that the role offers. “It was such a unique challenge to not only bring this world of dinosaurs to life but also find the sincerity within Liam and his emotional depth,” he explained. The cast collectively agrees that the show’s focus on nuanced characters will help engage young viewers and encourage them to reflect on their own experiences.

Sade Louise underscored the importance of female representation in the series, stating that showcasing diverse forms of strength is crucial for young audiences. “There are so many ways that we can be strong,” she said, highlighting the unique attributes of her character, Prisca, who embodies both sensitivity and leadership.

The inspiration for Armorsaurs traces back to Yi’s childhood interests, which included dinosaurs, robots, and cars. He shared that the original concept was adapted from a Korean show, with a focus on making it relatable for contemporary families. “We really thought, you know what? Let’s really make sure that we’re focusing on the human element,” Yi noted.

This commitment to character-driven storytelling aims to resonate with viewers beyond the flashy visuals. “If you’re not sitting with the stories and you’re not in love with the actual characters themselves, I think eventually we’ll lose you,” Yi stated. The creators intend for the show not just to be visually appealing but to impart meaningful lessons that can provoke discussions among families.

With the debut of Armorsaurs around the corner, the team expresses excitement for the show’s potential to entertain and educate. As they prepare for its release, they are hopeful that the series will foster connections among viewers, encouraging them to embrace their individuality and confront challenges with courage.
