Parenthood Set to Depart Hulu: What Fans Need to Know
Parenthood, the beloved comedy-drama series that follows the Braverman family as they navigate the complexities of marriage and parenting, is set to leave Hulu. The show, which consists of six seasons, will no longer be available on the platform after October 24, 2025. This development has raised questions among fans about the reasons behind its departure and potential future availability.
Licensing Issues Behind Departure
The primary reason for Parenthood leaving Hulu appears to be related to licensing. Reports suggest that the series’ license has expired and, as of now, has not been renewed. With only nine days remaining before its exit, fans are encouraged to consider alternative viewing options.
According to Just Watch, all six seasons of Parenthood are currently available for purchase on platforms like Amazon Prime Video and Apple TV+. This is not the first time the series has briefly left Hulu; it experienced a similar situation in October 2023, when it was removed from the streaming service for a short period before returning. While there is no confirmation yet, there is a possibility that the show could reappear on Hulu if the licensing situation changes.
Potential for a New Home
If Parenthood shifts to another platform, Peacock may be a suitable option due to its affiliation with NBCUniversal, the network that produced the series. Should the show make this transition, fans would not need to pay extra for a particular series; it would be included within the regular subscription plan on either Peacock or Hulu.
Despite the show’s conclusion in 2015, creator Jason Katims has previously expressed interest in a potential reboot. In an interview with E! News, he stated, “It’s interesting, I think it’s getting to be like enough time has passed where you can really look at the next generation.” This indicates that the legacy of Parenthood may still have new chapters ahead.
The departure of Parenthood from Hulu underscores the ongoing challenges faced by streaming platforms regarding content licensing. As fans prepare for the show’s exit, they are left wondering about its future and the potential for renewed access in the coming years.
