Remembering Carole Ann Bjornson: A Life of Education and Adventure

Carole Ann Bjornson, affectionately known as the “Viking Lady,” passed away at the age of 82 on January 7, 2026, at Gable Pines in Vadnais Heights, Minnesota. Born on November 5, 1943, in Owatonna, Minnesota, Carole dedicated her life to education and nurtured countless students during her teaching career.

Carole earned her Master’s in Education from Minnesota State University, Mankato, and spent many years imparting knowledge at Gulfview and Otter Lake Elementary Schools. Her passion for teaching was evident in her commitment to her students, whom she cared for deeply. Known for her adventurous spirit and sharp wit, Carole enjoyed gardening, reading, and, notably, watching the Minnesota Vikings.

Throughout her life, Carole maintained a strong connection to her family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Alice (Gerns) Jacobsen, her husband, Glen Bjornson, her sister, Mary Alice Krick (Jacobsen), and her niece, Natalie Krick. She is survived by her son, Bart Bjornson, daughter-in-law Annette Bjornson (Tuckner), and granddaughter Emma Bjornson. She also leaves behind nephews Shane and Lafe Krick, niece Rachel Bumgarner, and her best friend Karen Colwell (Rice).

Celebration of Life Announced

A celebration of Carole’s life is scheduled for January 16, 2026, from 17:00 to 20:00 at Mueller Memorial, located at 4738 Bald Eagle Avenue, White Bear Lake. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects and share cherished memories of her life.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to Catholic Charities Twin Cities, reflecting Carole’s commitment to helping others throughout her life. Her legacy as an educator and a loving family member will continue to inspire those who knew her.
