Spring Celebrations in Burlington: Festivals, Races, and Theatre
Spring has officially arrived in Burlington, Vermont, with a vibrant array of events taking place on Sunday, March 8, 2026. Residents and visitors can enjoy a day filled with art, food, and entertainment, highlighting local talent and community spirit.
Support Local Artists at the Women’s Festival of Crafts
One of the main attractions is the Women’s Festival of Crafts in Essex Junction. This festival showcases over 40 female artists offering unique crafts and handmade goods. The event is free to attend and runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Farmhouse located within the Essex Resort. Attendees can also savor delicious bites at the nearby Lazy Goat Tavern or indulge in a relaxing spa treatment at the Inn.
Exciting Ski Races and Theatrical Performances
For those seeking adventure, the annual “Pig Race” at the Blueberry Hill Outdoor Center in Goshen promises an exhilarating experience. Contrary to its name, participants do not race with pigs; instead, it features a ski race with both adult and children’s events. Registration begins at 10 a.m., and the races kick off at 11 a.m.. Tickets include food and cost approximately $40 for adults, while children’s races start at around $15. The highlight of the event is a fire-roasted pig feast awarded to the race winners.
In addition to outdoor activities, the local theatre scene is alive with a production of “Anything Goes,” the classic Broadway musical by Cole Porter. Performed by talented local teenagers from 10th to 12th grade, the matinee show is set to begin at 4 p.m. at the Old North End Community Center in Burlington. This performance is also free, making it an accessible cultural experience for the community.
As spring unfolds, Burlington offers an exciting mix of artistic, culinary, and sporting events that celebrate local talent and community engagement. Whether supporting female artists, enjoying an outdoor ski race, or attending a lively theatre performance, there are plenty of opportunities to embrace the season.
