Alex Singleton Undergoes Surgery After Testicular Cancer Diagnosis

Denver Broncos linebacker Alex Singleton successfully underwent surgery for testicular cancer last week, following a diagnosis stemming from a routine NFL drug test. Singleton, 31, received the alarming news on November 3, 2023, after the test indicated elevated levels of the hormone hCG in his system. This prompted further medical evaluation, which led to the discovery of potential indicators of a testicular tumor.

In a heartfelt post on X, Singleton explained that he quickly contacted the Broncos organization after consulting with a urologist. The team arranged for a follow-up appointment to confirm his diagnosis and to schedule surgery. Singleton proceeded with the surgery on November 7, 2023, just one day after contributing to the Broncos’ narrow 10-7 victory against the Las Vegas Raiders on “Thursday Night Football.”

“It’s a relief to know that we believe the cancer was caught early, providing a great prognosis for me and my family,” Singleton shared in his post. “While we are still awaiting some additional test results, I fully expect to return to the field in the coming weeks.”

Singleton expressed his initial hesitation about publicly disclosing his diagnosis and surgery, but he ultimately felt it was important. “If it helps one person decide to pay closer attention to their body, then it is well worth it,” he stated.
