Luann de Lesseps Celebrates 60 with Fitness Tips and Confidence
Luann de Lesseps, the star of Real Housewives of New York City, is embracing life at 60 with a focus on health, positivity, and resilience in the face of public scrutiny. In an exclusive interview with Fox News Digital, she shared her insights on maintaining a vibrant lifestyle while brushing off negativity from critics.
De Lesseps marked her milestone birthday earlier this year by posting a photo of herself in a bikini, which elicited enthusiastic praise from fans. “No one has ever looked better than you in the history of the world,” one admirer commented, while another asked, “Luann, give me your secret to keeping that smoking, hot rocking body!!”
Secrets to a Healthy Lifestyle
The reality star attributes her fitness to a combination of mindful eating and a positive mindset. “The most important thing is — chew your food,” she advised. De Lesseps emphasized that many people eat too quickly, neglecting the essential first step of digestion that begins in the mouth. “Digestive juices break down the food that we chew,” she explained, highlighting the importance of taking the time to enjoy meals.
Additionally, she pointed out cultural differences in eating habits, stating, “This is why the Europeans are thinner.” By sipping beverages like red wine rather than gulping cold drinks, she believes they support better digestion. De Lesseps follows a Mediterranean diet and avoids processed foods, which she claims are often high in sodium and unhealthy carbohydrates.
“It’s really about being active and having a positive outlook on it,” she stated, underscoring the mental aspect of maintaining health.
Embracing Creativity and Authenticity
Over the past seven years, de Lesseps has navigated various personal challenges by turning to her passion for performance. “When I started cabaret eight years ago, I didn’t know it would be successful at all,” she reflected. The experience of performing in front of an audience, coupled with filming for the show, created a unique set of pressures. Yet, she has found joy and success in her cabaret shows, which blend elements of pop culture, comedy, and fashion.
“My show is really — it’s pop culture meets cabaret meets comedy meets a fashion show,” she described, noting the glamour she brings to her performances. De Lesseps aims to inspire her audience, encouraging them to embrace their own individuality and creativity. “It’s not about the number. It’s really about how you feel about yourself and the energy that you put out there,” she said.
Despite her optimistic outlook, de Lesseps acknowledges the challenges of public life. “Not everybody’s going to love you,” she noted, addressing the negativity that often comes from social media. She adopts a philosophy of self-protection and resilience, stating, “I don’t let what people think of me affect me.”
Through her journey, Luann de Lesseps continues to share her story, demonstrating that age is just a number and that authenticity is key to living a fulfilling life. Her message resonates with many, reminding them that confidence and happiness are within reach at any age.
