Susanna Reid Reveals Weight Loss Journey After Lifestyle Changes
Susanna Reid, the well-known presenter of Good Morning Britain, has successfully lost 1.5 stone through personal lifestyle changes rather than gym workouts. The 54-year-old television host has been open about her journey, particularly how the COVID-19 lockdowns impacted her health and weight. Reid candidly shared her struggles with weight gain during this period and the steps she took to regain her well-being.
During a discussion with former co-presenter Piers Morgan, Reid revealed her decision to stop going to the gym, explaining that it increased her appetite. “I stopped going to the gym, I found it made me too hungry,” she stated. Instead, she focused on adjusting her diet and cutting out unhealthy snacking, which has led to her feeling “fantastic.” Reid’s journey began after consulting her GP about skin issues, who advised her to lose weight as she was at the upper limit of the healthy BMI range for her height.
Dietary Changes and Health Impacts
Reid shared insights into her new eating habits, emphasizing the importance of nutrition. She has shifted her focus to healthier meals, eliminating snacks during her busy workdays. The early morning hours, with her alarm ringing at 4 a.m., contributed to her cravings for quick energy sources like toast and biscuits. “It can creep up without you noticing, and what I did was cut out snacking,” she explained to ITV colleague Lorraine Kelly.
In her interview with Prima magazine, Reid acknowledged her earlier feelings of being “a little heavy for a while.” She has made significant dietary adjustments, including consuming more fish while avoiding other meats. Additionally, she gave up alcohol in 2019 after noticing its adverse effects on her skin condition, including persistent flare-ups and scarring. Reid noted, “I’m rather glad I’ve given up drink because lockdown drinking, the pandemic prosecco, has been a serious issue.”
Commitment to a Healthier Lifestyle
Reid’s commitment to her teetotal lifestyle has remained strong, even during celebratory occasions such as her 50th birthday, where she chose not to drink. Although she has faced playful criticism from Morgan for her sobriety, referring to her as “the world’s biggest bore,” Reid maintains that prioritizing her health and well-being is worth it.
With over a decade of experience as a presenter on Good Morning Britain, Reid continues to engage with audiences while sharing her personal health journey. Her candidness not only reflects her dedication to a healthier lifestyle but also serves as an inspiration for others navigating similar challenges.
