Warriors’ Jonathan Kuminga Out with Knee Injury Ahead of Timberwolves Game
Golden State Warriors forward Jonathan Kuminga will miss additional games due to a bone bruise and a hyperextended left knee, according to an announcement made by the team on Sunday. The injury forced Kuminga out of the Warriors’ previous match against the Dallas Mavericks on March 15, 2024, and he underwent an MRI the following day.
The Warriors were set to play against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday, following a postponement of the game originally scheduled for Saturday. The rescheduling came in light of the recent fatal shooting of 37-year-old Alex Pretti by federal immigration officers in Minneapolis, which prompted the team to prioritize community safety. A re-evaluation date for Kuminga’s condition will be determined in the coming days.
Kuminga’s injury is particularly significant as he had just returned to the team’s rotation after Jimmy Butler suffered a season-ending knee injury. Prior to this, Kuminga had been sidelined for a month, and there are growing speculations regarding his potential trade before the deadline on February 5, 2024.
In a positive development for the Warriors, star player Stephen Curry, who was uncertain to play due to right knee soreness, was cleared for action after participating in pregame warmups. The team also announced that De’Anthony Melton and Al Horford would not play on Sunday due to injury management but are expected to return for the rematch against the Timberwolves scheduled for Monday night.
As the Warriors navigate these injuries, the impact on their performance and roster decisions remains a focal point as they seek to maintain their competitive edge in the league.
