Austin city officials have approved a financial incentive aimed at boosting local employment and supporting the creative sector. The award, amounting to $150,000, is part of the updated Creative Content Incentive Program (CCIP) and will benefit Hermanos Productions LLC, the company producing the upcoming Apple TV series, Brothers, featuring actors Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson.

This incentive is designed to encourage the hiring of local talent and to stimulate the economy in the Austin area. Officials noted that the funding is specifically tied to wages paid to cast and crew members based in Austin, reflecting a commitment to support local creatives and small businesses. The approval of Brothers marks the first project to receive funding under the revised CCIP guidelines, signaling a significant milestone for the program.

According to city officials, the production is expected to generate substantial economic benefits for the region. It is projected to produce more than $6 million in local wages and approximately $9 million in spending on goods and services. The project will create around 320 jobs for cast and crew members, with a strong emphasis on collaborating with local vendors, including minority and women-owned businesses.

The economic impact of this production is estimated to be considerable, with combined payroll and local spending potentially generating nearly $160,000 in direct and related economic benefits for the Austin area. This initiative aligns with the city’s broader strategy to enhance its status as a hub for film and creative content, ensuring that local industries thrive as major film projects take place in the region.

This approval reflects a growing recognition of the importance of the creative sector to local economies and highlights Austin’s continued commitment to fostering an environment where local talents can flourish. As the production of Brothers unfolds, the city anticipates positive outcomes not only for the entertainment industry but also for the wider community.
