Englewood Methodist Church Hosts 40th Annual Rummage Sale
Englewood Methodist Church will host its 40th Annual Rummage Sale from February 19 to 21, 2026, at the Fellowship Hall located at 700 E. Dearborn. This year’s event promises an extensive array of items, marking a significant return after the sale was paused in 2021 due to the pandemic.
The event kicks off with an “Early Bird” Pre-Sale on February 19, from 15:00 to 18:00. For a nominal fee of $5, attendees can gain early access to what many consider the largest rummage sale in the region. Those interested can purchase wristbands at designated tents in the Fellowship Hall parking lot.
Sale Details and Community Impact
The main sale continues on February 20 and 21, where entry is free. On Friday, shoppers can browse from 09:00 to 15:00, and on Saturday, the sale runs from 09:00 to noon. A variety of affordable food options will be available each day, making it a great opportunity to enjoy a meal while shopping.
This year’s sale features a vast selection, including furniture, electronics, toys, clothing, jewelry, craft supplies, and home décor. With thousands of items up for grabs, it’s a treasure trove for bargain hunters.
The tradition of the rummage sale began with the Methodist Women, who have utilized the event to raise funds for charitable causes within the community and beyond. The Methodist Men have joined in the effort, and together, they allocate proceeds to various projects that assist those in need. Funds generated from the sale directly support postsecondary scholarships for local youth associated with the church, which serves over 2,000 people each season. Additionally, the Methodist Women contribute to local initiatives such as Foundations Pre-School, Englewood Meals on Wheels, and the Englewood Community Care Clinic.
Ongoing Contributions and Future Events
In light of increased donations over the years, the church initiated a Christmas-Only Rummage Sale seven years ago to accommodate the growing volume of items. This additional event complements the ongoing efforts to support various charities.
The Methodist Men also contribute to the fundraising efforts by hosting Country Breakfasts every other Saturday from February 14 to March 28, from 07:30 to 11:00. Adults can enjoy an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast for $10, while children under 12 eat for free. During these breakfasts, attendees can also purchase handcrafted gifts and decorations produced by the church’s Creative Workshop.
While donations for this year’s rummage sale closed on February 7, the church will announce new opportunities for contributions following the event. Individuals can drop off small items at the donation shed located in the back lot of the church, while arrangements for larger items can be made by calling the office.
