David Anthony Gilles, a beloved member of the community, passed away at the age of 66, surrounded by his wife and children. His death marks the loss of a dedicated family man and a respected professional who left a significant impact through both his work and personal life.

Born on April 27, 1959, in Glendale, CA, David was the son of William and Carol Gilles. He graduated from Bishop Montgomery High School and furthered his education at community colleges in Torrance, CA, and Pasco, WA. In 1980, he married Nancy Erd, and together they settled in Richland, WA, where they raised four children: Darlene, Wendy, David, and Heather.

David began his career at the Hanford Nuclear Site as a bus driver. His dedication and hard work propelled him through various management positions, ultimately leading him to retire as a Manager of Retrieval Operations at the Tank Farms. His commitment to his work was evident, and he was known for being a tireless provider for his family.

In 2023, David and Nancy moved to Sandpoint, ID, where they enjoyed the home they built together. Known for his reserved demeanor, David possessed a quick wit and a clever sense of humor that endeared him to those who knew him. Friends and family often remarked that if he was teasing you, it was a sign of affection.

David is survived by his wife, Nancy; his four children; eleven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and his brother, William (Roni). He was preceded in death by his parents.

In honor of David’s memory, donations can be made to the Tri-Cities Cancer Center Foundation. This foundation reflects David’s commitment to helping others, a trait that defined much of his life.

For those wishing to pay their respects, an online memorial has been established, celebrating the life and legacy of David Anthony Gilles, a man remembered for his hard work, love for family, and generous spirit.
