Clements and Tanner High Schools Shine in County Basketball Showdown

Clements High School’s girls’ basketball team secured a decisive victory against Tanner High School, while Tanner’s boys’ team triumphed in their matchup on December 3, 2025. The night was filled with competitive spirit as both schools showcased their talent on the court in a pair of county basketball games.

In the girls’ varsity contest, Clements dominated Tanner with a final score of 66-42. Keymoni Holloway led the charge for Clements, scoring an impressive 29 points. Her teammates also made significant contributions, with Asiah Malone adding 15 points and Jakayla Farrar contributing 10 points. The strong performance underscored Clements’ season aspirations.

On the boys’ side, Tanner’s varsity team capped the evening with a convincing 80-56 victory over Clements. This win was characterized by a well-rounded offensive effort, essential for Tanner to maintain momentum in the season.

A number of other notable games took place across the county that evening. East Limestone High School achieved a resounding victory over Ardmore, finishing 69-39. Lonnie Dunbar led East Limestone with 16 points, while teammates Charlie Eslick and Chris Fitts each added 12 points to the tally.

In another close contest, Athens narrowly defeated Grissom 46-44. Lakin Barnes was a standout player for Athens with 13 points, while Brayden Walker and Torian Mangruen each chipped in with 11 points. This close match highlighted the competitive nature of the county’s basketball scene.

West Limestone also notched a win against Randolph, finishing 54-42, with JT Winter leading the scoring for West Limestone with an impressive 32 points.

In girls’ action, East Limestone’s team also emerged victorious against Ardmore, ending the game 49-34, with both Ava Tillery and Kate Hovis contributing 16 points each.

Additional scores from the evening included Lindsay Lane defeating Athens Bible 58-38 and Whitesburg Christian overcoming Elkmont 46-31.
