Red Bull’s Helmut Marko Leaves Impact as Tsunoda Eyes Future

Helmut Marko, a prominent figure in Formula 1, has left Red Bull after a season marked by significant changes in driver line-ups. Known for his stringent decision-making, Marko’s influence was particularly felt after the departure of team principal Christian Horner in July 2024. During this tumultuous period, Red Bull made the controversial decision to drop Daniel Ricciardo, a seven-time Grand Prix winner, in favor of rising star Liam Lawson.

Wood remarked on Tsunoda’s honest nature, stating, “The good thing about Yuki is that he has a pure nature that allows him to say good things are good and bad things are bad.” He added that Tsunoda’s tendency to speak candidly about his performances stemmed from his commitment to improvement, despite the setbacks he faced.

Looking ahead, Tsunoda’s future in Formula 1 remains uncertain. With the shifting dynamics at Red Bull, where the team is now developing its own power units, his relationship with Honda has diminished. Honda recently shifted its focus to powering Aston Martin, which complicates Tsunoda’s prospects. Although Lance Stroll’s seat is unlikely to become available soon, given that his father, Lawrence Stroll, owns the team, the potential retirement of Fernando Alonso could open up opportunities for top-tier drivers.

Teams such as Alpine and Haas are also on Tsunoda’s radar as potential destinations ahead of the 2027 season. With the landscape of Formula 1 continuously evolving, Tsunoda’s journey could take unexpected turns, but his talent and work ethic may ultimately secure him a return to the grid.
