The Tiftarea boys and girls basketball teams are gearing up for the region play as the new year approaches. With the season underway, the Panthers have shown impressive form, achieving an early record of 8-1. In contrast, the Lady Panthers have faced challenges, starting the season at 4-8. Both teams are eager to improve upon their previous season’s performance as they enter this critical phase of competition.

Season Highlights and Upcoming Challenges

Last season, the Lady Panthers finished fourth in their region, narrowly missing the playoffs but qualifying for the region tournament. The Panthers, on the other hand, secured a third-place finish, successfully making their way into the playoffs. As they prepare to kick off region action on January 8, 2026, against Brookwood, both teams will first travel to Americus to face Southland on January 6. The girls’ game is set to start at 18:00, followed by the boys’ match at 19:15.

Following their initial region match, the Panthers and Lady Panthers will host Valwood in their first home region game. This will mark the beginning of a demanding stretch with five games scheduled within just nine days. The teams will also host Deerfield Windsor on January 16, Terrell on January 20, and Brookwood on January 22.

Looking Ahead: The Path to the Region Tournament

Amid this busy schedule, both teams will take a brief break from region play to compete in a road game against Sherwood Christian. After this, they will engage in two more contests outside of the region, facing Westfield at home on January 23 and traveling to Southwest Georgia Academy on January 26. The Panthers and Lady Panthers will then embark on two road trips to Terrell on January 27 and Valwood on January 30. Notably, Southwest Georgia will return to Chula on February 2 for a rematch.

As the regular season draws to a close, Tiftarea will host Georgia Christian on February 5 before the region tournament, which is scheduled to take place from February 9 to February 12 in Thomasville. This upcoming tournament will be a significant opportunity for both teams to demonstrate their growth and compete for a spot in the playoffs.

As the Tiftarea teams prepare for this critical phase of their season, fans and supporters look forward to an exciting series of games that could define their paths to success in the region.
