Duke’s Cameron Boozer, BYU’s AJ Dybantsa Lead Wooden Award Watchlist

BREAKING: The Wooden Award midseason top 25 watchlist has just been released, featuring a strong showing from freshmen, with Cameron Boozer of Duke and AJ Dybantsa from BYU leading the pack. Cameron Boozer currently tops the nation in scoring, averaging an impressive 23.3 points per game, while Dybantsa follows closely with 23.1 points per game. Darryn Peterson of Kansas has played only six games this season due to a hamstring injury but recently showcased his potential with 32 points in just 32 minutes against TCU. Meanwhile, Mikel Brown Jr. from Louisville has missed five consecutive games due to a lower back injury.

As the season progresses, veterans like Braden Smith from Purdue are also in contention. Smith leads the nation in assists, averaging 9.6 assists per game, and is on pace to potentially break the all-time Division I career assists record held by Bobby Hurley with 1,076 assists.

Both Joshua Jefferson of Iowa State and Yaxel Lendeborg of Michigan have emerged as legitimate contenders as well. Jefferson is averaging 17.5 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 5.4 assists, contributing to a perfect 14-0 Cyclones team. Lendeborg, a transfer from UAB, leads the No. 2 Wolverines with 14.7 points and is second on the team in rebounding and assists.
