Reflecting on her past, Bates acknowledged a life filled with struggles, including binge-drinking and a lack of self-respect. “I felt like I was losing myself,” she said. After being baptized in January 2025, her desire to explore the Amish way of life grew, believing it could offer her valuable lessons.

Bates also noted that her family has historical ties to the Mennonite community, which shares some beliefs with the Amish. “I wanted to get back to small roots again,” she shared, emphasizing her curiosity about Amish traditions, particularly their more modest lifestyle.

However, the transition has not been without challenges. In the show’s first episode, Bates faced scrutiny for her revealing clothing, prompting Bishop Vernon to question her sense of modesty. “When he was talking to me, I thought, ‘He’s slut-shaming me,’” Bates recalled. She later realized he was trying to engage her in a meaningful conversation about her choices.

Despite the difficulties, Bates expressed that her journey on the show is genuine. “I no longer struggle with the fact that I did OnlyFans because I’m learning the grace and forgiveness of God,” she stated, highlighting her transformation and commitment to living a life aligned with her faith.

As “Suddenly Amish” continues to air, viewers can expect to see Bates navigate her new life, shedding old habits and embracing a more spiritually fulfilling existence. “Am I a perfect Christian? Absolutely not,” she reflected, “but my values and how I carry myself are different.”
