James D. Styer, 80, Passes Away; Services Scheduled for January 12

UPDATE: James D. Styer, an influential figure in the electrical sales industry, has sadly passed away at the age of 80. He died on January 4, 2026, in Exeter Township, leaving behind a legacy of service and dedication.

Styer was not only known for his professional accomplishments but also for his deep family connections. He was the husband of the late Cynthia G. (Kline) Styer, who succumbed to pancreatic cancer in 2018. In honor of Cynthia’s memory, the family encourages donations to the Lustgarten Foundation for pancreatic cancer research.

Born in Reading, Pennsylvania, James graduated from Exeter High School in 1963 and went on to study at Penn State University. He honorably served in the United States Army, demonstrating his commitment to his country. A well-respected member of the electrical supply sector, he spent many years with Progress Electric Supply and later retired from Colonial Electric Supply.

He is survived by his children, Andrew J. Styer and Paula Styer, as well as five grandchildren: Evan Styer, Luke Styer, Nathan Styer, Aiden Tobias, and Henry Moyer-Daniels. Styer is also remembered by his siblings, John and Joel Styer, along with friends and his beloved cat, B.C.

Visitation for family and friends will take place on Monday, January 12, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, followed by services starting at 11:00 am. The gathering will be held at Lutz Funeral Home, Inc., located at 2100 Perkiomen Avenue, Reading, PA 19606. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Park, 390 W Neversink Road, Reading, PA 19606.
